Trade in Policy
In order to continue to be one of the few stores in the lower mainland to still offer this service to customers we must require and enforce the following restrictions and requirements.
In regards to aquatic equipment; only tanks, stands and canopies are accepted at this time. Tanks must be empty but capable of holding water. If we have to take the time to clean your equipment before displaying them in our store, please understand that this will reduce the amount we will offer you for your trade in.
NOTE: NO TRADE INS OF ANY KIND WILL BE ACCEPTED WITHOUT PRIOR APPROVAL OVER THE PHONE (604) 592-6880.
PAYMENT: We do not pay cash for trade ins. Trade ins are accepted in exchange for store credit only.
We cannot provide a quote on the value of trade in's until we see them in person. One of our fish department staff will evaluate your fish and provide you with our trade in offer. It is then at your discretion as to whether or not to accept the offer.
Any unused store credit is applied to your account in our system. Store credit can be used on anything in the store and does not expire. Any purchase made on store credit that is returned, is refunded in store credit only.
Requirements for fish/snails/crustaceans:
1) All fish/livestock must be in good health and ideally 1" in length or larger (established)
2) Prior to bringing in your fish, call into the store (604) 592-6880 and speak to someone in the fish department for trade in approval. Please have the correct name (scientific if possible) for your fish as well as an accurate size and quantity of the fish being traded in.
3) After confirming with the fish department, they will add you to our accepted trade in list so that the entire department is aware you are coming and what you are trading in. NO TRADE INS WILL BE ACCEPTED FROM ANYONE NOT PRE-APPROVED AND ON THE ACCEPTED TRADE IN LIST.
4) Please be able to bring in your trade in before 5pm on either the same day of your call or the next day. If you have not brought your fish in prior to 5pm the next day, we will assume that you found another home for your fish and you will be removed from the list.
Finally, please be aware that there are many factors such as size, aggressiveness, age and popularity of fish as well as logistical factors such as available tank space and incoming shipments that effect our ability to accept trade ins as well as the amount, we’re willing to offer for them.
